The starting point was a single sheet of paper. A neighbor's furnace quote, three line items, one number at the bottom, and no way for a homeowner to tell whether it was fair. Four other quotes for the same house disagreed by a wide margin and none of them explained why.
There was nothing to compare them against. Star ratings said the shops were all excellent. Directory listings said the same thing in different fonts. So the project began as a habit of writing down the reasoning that nobody else was writing down, and it stayed that way.

What we bring is patience and volume. We read more service records, complaint threads and follow-up reviews than any one homeowner has time for, then we compress that into something readable.
We do not send a technician. We do not sell equipment or service contracts. If a page ever reads like it wants your money, that is a defect, and we would like to hear about it.

The reviews hub is the entry point if you are still mapping the field. If a specific machine has already failed, skip the hub and open its category page directly. Each one leads with the verdict, so the answer arrives before the reasoning rather than after it.
Neither route asks you to trust us. Both of them show the work.
You are owed the reasoning, not just the order
Four rules hold every page on this site together, and they are short enough to check.
No company pays for placement, ever. No claim goes on a page unless we can point at what it rests on. No proper noun gets invented, which means we name a provider only where a real record supports it. And when a repair beats a replacement, we say so plainly, even though replacement is the more useful answer for everybody except the homeowner.
That last rule is the one that costs something, and it is the reason this site exists. The same instinct shows up in how this area keeps its own record, at places like the Fredericksburg Area Museum, where the history is held in public rather than sold back to the people it belongs to.
